Julian Becker (DE, IL) and Andrés Sanchez Trejos (CR) met whilst studying at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis. Their shared interest in early music brought them together. They have developed their medieval and Renaissance repertoire with a view to performing it on the streets, in the old tradition of the town pipers. Much like the town musicians of that era, both are multi-instrumentalists. Among other things, they play well-known instruments such as the harp and horn, as well as lesser-known ones such as the busine, vielle and serpent. This diversity allows them to experiment with different sounds and lends their concerts a rich palette of tones.
Andrés Sanchez Trejos (Busine, Tamburello, Serpent)
Andrés Sánchez begann seine Karriere als Hornist beim Nationalorchester von Costa Rica, bevor er in Israel und der Schweiz historische Aufführungspraxis auf Originalinstrumenten studierte. Seine musikalische Neugier reicht vom 13. bis zum 21. Jahrhundert und hat ihn zu Instrumenten wie Busine, Barocktrompete, Zugtrompete und Serpent geführt. Als freischaffender Musiker in der Schweiz hat er u. a. mit Il Pomo d'Oro, Gli Angeli Genève, dem Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, der Lautten Compagney Berlin, dem Zürcher Kammerorchester, und dem Kammerorchester Basel zusammengearbeitet.

Andrés Sánchez began his career as a horn player with the National Orchestra of Costa Rica before studying historical performance practice on period instruments in Israel and Switzerland. His musical curiosity spans the 13th to the 21st centuries and has led him to instruments such as the busine, the Baroque trumpet, the slide trumpet and the serpent. As a freelance musician in Switzerland, he has collaborated with, amongst others, Il Pomo d’Oro, Gli Angeli Genève, the Amsterdam Baroque Orchestra, the Lautten Compagney Berlin, the Zurich Chamber Orchestra and the Basel Chamber Orchestra.
